Un Amore Così
A love like this
Forty years of Italian lingerie, beginning again in Carpi.
The story
Some people retire. Ugo and Valeria Campello went back to the factory.
In 1983 they founded Cosabella and spent the next four decades teaching American women what Italian lingerie felt like — the stretch lace, the mesh, the color, the fit that held without gripping. They built it from the United States, and it worked.
Un Amore Così is what came after. Not a relaunch and not a legacy project, but the same two people doing the same work again, this time from Emilia-Romagna and under their own name. The colors are theirs. The fit is theirs. So is the decision to make every piece within walking distance of the desk where it was drawn.
- 1983
Cosabella
Ugo and Valeria Campello begin bringing Italian-made intimates to the United States. What starts as an import business becomes one of the best-known Italian lingerie houses in America, built on three things they never moved away from: color, stretch lace, and fit.
- The Miami years
Setting the standard
For four decades the Campellos define what luxury Italian intimates mean to an American customer. Fine lace as an everyday fabric rather than an occasion one. A color range chosen as a range. Underwear you forget you are wearing, which turns out to be the hardest thing to make.
- The return
Back to Emilia-Romagna
They go home. Collezioni S.r.l. in Carpi becomes the base, and for the first time the design desk and the sewing floor sit in the same building. Nothing is outsourced. Nothing is designed at a distance from the people who will make it.
- Today
Un Amore Così
Two lines, one color range. Valentina in sheer mesh, My Way in soft stretch lace, cut so they work together rather than sitting in separate drawers. Designed, cut and finished in Italy — and named, finally, for themselves.
Carpi
Made where it is designed
Carpi is a town of about seventy thousand people in Emilia-Romagna that has been at the center of Italian knitwear and intimates manufacturing for generations. It is not a marketing address. It is where the skill is, and where the people who have that skill already live.
Down the hall, not across an ocean
When the design desk and the sewing floor are in the same building, the person who drew a strap can walk over and see it sewn. A fit problem gets solved in an afternoon instead of a season. A color that reads wrong on screen gets caught before it becomes four hundred units.
The expensive way round
Making it here is slower and it costs more. It also means we can make eighteen colors of one style instead of four, hold a fit across an entire line, and change something the week we notice it is wrong. Everything we care about depends on being close to it.
We have returned because we simply couldn’t stay away.Ugo & Valeria Campello
Intimo Esternabile
Lingerie made to be seen
The line between underwear and clothing stopped being useful some time ago, and most lingerie has not caught up. A lace bralette under an open blazer. A mesh chemise over a slip. A criss-cross top that is not hiding under anything at all.
Cut to work together
This is why the two lines share a palette. A My Way bralette under a Valentina top is not a coincidence; it is the reason both exist. Nothing in the range was designed to be worn alone, and nothing was designed to be hidden.
It assumes you have somewhere to be
Comfort here does not mean shapeless and it does not mean staying in. It means a garment you can wear for fourteen hours, under real clothes, on a real day, and take off without relief.
A love like this
Un Amore Così means “a love like this.” It is not only lingerie. It is our way of thanking everyone who, year after year, has looked for excellence, comfort, and beauty in every detail.
